Hotel Tycoon 2 How to Expand Your Hotel

From a two-room starter to a coastal tower with elevators in the Lycke BETA.

How to Expand

Expansion in Hotel Tycoon 2 is grid building, not a rebirth button. You sell a wall, drag a corridor, drop more beds, then hang a glass elevator on the side of the tower. This page is the order that keeps guests pathing while you grow. Watch the session in the middle of the article for a live corridor-and-staff example, then come back to the checklist.

If you still miss check-ins, stay on how to play until two rooms cycle without you panicking.

Expand sideways first

The starter shell has a lobby and a couple of rooms. Before a second floor:

  1. Pull a corridor so every door shares one hallway back to reception.
  2. Add beds from the Beds catalog — S-tier on the rooms list.
  3. Put laundry on that same floor. A washer on the ground floor serving eight rooms is better than a pretty empty upstairs.
  4. Add at least one bathroom cluster.
  5. Keep an outdoor path from the road to the door. Trash bins start around $95; benches and umbrellas cost more and can wait.

Use [G] to bump grid size when you want larger floor plates. Use [E] to drop out of build when a guest appears, unless a Bellhop is already escorting.

Selling a wall to see inside a bathroom is normal. Creators do it on camera. Just rebuild the wall before the next check-in or the room reads as open air and looks unfinished to the rating meter.

Then go vertical

The coastal lots have room to stack. Glass elevators use a keypad: G for ground, numbered floors, a bell, and direction arrows. Promotional shots show a player in a glass cab over the bay with floors 1–7 plus G. You do not need seven floors on day one.

Rules that save rebuilds:

  • Unlock floor N only when floor N−1 has beds, a bathroom, and a path to the elevator door.
  • Place the elevator where the lobby already looks at it. Hidden cabs in a back alley confuse guests and friends.
  • Do not put the only washer on the top floor. Laundry should drop with the guest, not fight the cab.
  • If the keypad UI covers the world, close it with the X before you click a guest.

Build limit passes exist in the shop if the BETA is capping how many pieces you can place. That is Robux, not a code.

Outdoor and overhangs

The Outdoor catalog is a sidebar of priced pieces: bins, arches, benches, umbrellas, tables, small pools, decks. Overhead shots label Overhang on the shell. Overhangs look expensive and do not print cash. Use them after 3-star.

Keep the road edge clear. Guests and friends enter from the street. A maze of $400 water tiles in front of the door is how 6-player plots start arguing. Etiquette: multiplayer.

Staff before the third floor

A three-floor hotel with no Janitor is a dirty monument. Hire and level staff from the hire guide before you stack another plate. Top Bellhop and Top Janitor both want level 5 — long enough that you should start XP while you still have two floors, not after a tower.

If you are expanding with an autofarm running, freeze new walls until the script is paused. Autofarm plus live grid edits is how guests get stuck in sold geometry.

When to stop expanding

Stop if:

  • Stars are falling — open the star checklist.
  • Checkout cash is flat — you need laundry, not another floor. Money guide.
  • Friends cannot find the elevator — simplify the lobby.
  • You hit a build cap — buy the limit pass or decorate less.

Rebuilds happen. Some owners delete the whole hotel and start from a cleaner grid. That recording sits on the badges page. It is slower than a careful first layout, but a clean rectangle with one elevator shaft beats a spaghetti corridor you are afraid to touch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Hotel Tycoon 2 on Roblox.

How do I add a second floor in Hotel Tycoon 2?

Finish beds, laundry, and a bathroom on floor one, place an elevator with a keypad, then copy the room loop upstairs. Do not skip the washer.

What does the elevator G button do?

Ground floor. Numbered buttons are upper floors. Close the keypad before you click guests.

Should I expand outdoors or up?

Sideways rooms and laundry first, then up. Outdoor pools are for stars after 3-star, not for early cash.

Why do guests not use the new rooms?

No path, no elevator stop, or the bed is still dirty. Fix corridors, then hire a Bellhop if you cannot escort in time.
