Janitor versus Bellhop — duties, badges, and how they share a plot with human players.

Janitor
The Janitor is the laundry person you did not want to be. After a stay, beds are dirty. Someone has to walk a basket to the washer and remake. If that someone is always you, you will miss the next guest at the door.
Give the Janitor:
- A washer that exists (Laundry catalog)
- A path from rooms to that washer
- XP toward level 5 for Top Janitor
Do not give the Janitor a sealed bathroom as their only route. They use the same grid guests use. Build mode mistakes become staff mistakes.
The Roblox API currently reuses Bellhop wording on the Janitor badge description. Trust the badge name.
Bellhop
The Bellhop is the click on a guest. Official text says serve guests by clicking them. The Bellhop does that walk to a free bed so you can stay in the catalog. Hire one when the lobby queue is the pain, not the laundry pile.
Give the Bellhop:
- Clean beds (or a Janitor who is winning)
- Doors that exist
- An elevator that actually stops on the floor you just built — how to expand
A Bellhop cannot check a guest into a painting. Art is still C-tier.
You
Until both NPCs exist, you are receptionist, porter, and housekeeper. That is the how to play loop. After they exist, your job is build mode, stars, and badges that are not staff XP.
Friends
Humans are not staff roles. They do not give Top Bellhop credit. They can, however, stand on laundry while you hire, which is useful for ten minutes. Then they should build or leave the NPCs alone. Multiplayer.
Roles that are not here
Receptionist, chef, room service, juice specialist, server, security, manager — that list is the other Hotel Tycoon 2. If your hire panel shows nine jobs, you launched the wrong place. Links hub.
Sharing the floor with a script
An autofarm tries to be every role at once. Running it plus two NPCs plus three friends is a traffic jam. Pick two layers of automation, not four. Safety: script safety.
Leveling
Both named roles want level 5. Feed them cash after beds and washers — how to make money. Do not fire a level 4 to “save wages” unless the plot is actually bankrupt.
Think of the two NPCs as queues, not flavor. Reception queue → Bellhop. Dirty-bed queue → Janitor. If both queues are long, you need more beds, not a third job title.
When you expand upstairs, walk the Janitor route yourself once with a basket. If you cannot reach the washer without the elevator keypad, neither can they. Put a second machine on the new floor or accept slower stars.
If both NPCs idle, you are not understaffed — you are blocked. Delete the wall, then watch one stay complete. Count stays for five minutes; if cash is flat, you still have a path bug, not a wage problem. Related: Players hub, badges, star checklist, how to expand.
